Format of file URLs
Most of the grouprise URLs may change over time. They are rarely used in long living links. Exceptions are
- group and content links (see #301) and
- file links.
Files (especially images) may be referenced in articles and other content by URL. So if we change the URL format of files in the near future (probably as a result of #740 (closed)), the change should be as sustainable as possible.
This is a discussion ticket, the result can be realized with #740 (closed) and !37 (merged).
First question: Which namespace do we want to use in the future for general links, for which slugs are not configurable?
-
stadt/
- we use this one so far -
-/
- another, maybe nicer possibility - file links should be relative to entities/ content
Second question: Do we want to separate images and other files? What about other special file types like videos?
-
files/
+images/
- something like this is supposed with !37 (merged) and integrates quite naturally into the current data model -
files/
, maybe with the type as a query parameter or by extension (see below)
Another question: How do we want to address the actual file?
-
<id>/
as supposed with !37 (merged) (with oder without trailing slash?) -
<base32_hash>.<file_type_suffix>
might look more like "a file" - any other suggestions?
The result of answering all three questions can be something like:
